He was at the battle of Minden in 1759 where he had his skull fractured and he wore a silver plate over the fracture to the day of his death.he had been materially affected by the loss of his two sons, one at the battle of Trafalgar and the other at Waterloo

HEDLEY in clearing away the rubbish out of the foundation of the tower, on the western rampart of the Roman station, Vinddona, found about 250 Roman coins, many were of Constantine.1872 Nov 30th. This morning a frightful accident occurred at Morpeth Railway station, to a young woman named JANE WILSON belonging to Acton. She was married at Morpeth and whilst the train was passing along by the side of the platform at the station, one of the bridal party opened the carriage door and got safely out. She then attempted to do the same, but unfortunately was thrown down between the train and the platform and was very seriously crushed.
